Googoosh: Iran's Daughter

Synopsis

Here is the story of Iranian pop phenom Googoosh, who rose to success in the 60's and 70's, only to be silenced after Iran's 1979 revolution. Made when the singer was forbidden to perform, this newly remastered film deftly pieces together clips from Googoosh's career on stage and screen, creating a portrait of a woman who is a cultural icon for a country trapped between tradition and modernity.
